Learning Place Online grew out of Arlene Harder's experience as Executive Director of CancerOnline, a comprehensive non-profit website designed to help cancer patients improve their quality of life to the greatest extent possible. In fact, in large part it was because so much of the content applied to more than cancer patients and their families that Learning Place Online was developed (see Arlene's brief bio).
Although the non-profit was disbanded early in 2002 when this website was formed, the Board of Directors gave permission to transfer any material from CancerOnline to the new website. They wanted to make certain the articles could keep on helping people become the best they could be, whether they were dealing with a serious illness or simply wanted to make a change in their lives.
We are grateful for that permission and hope you will benefit from the continued use of this material.
