Name:

Mina Hamilton

Picture of Mina HamiltonMina is a certified stress-reduction and Kripalu yoga instructor, teaching in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

She has taught stress-reduction to doctors, nurses and staff at Long Island College Hospital, New York Methodist Hospital/Cornell University and at the Holy Family Home.

Although currently living in the Big Apple, Mina previously lived where there were more bears than people, Pahaquarry Township in Western New Jersey. She is a long-time environmental activist and was one of the leaders in the successful battle to stop the Tocks Island Dam. This giant U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Dam would have flooded 30 miles of the free-flowing and pristine Delaware River between an island just north of the Delaware Water Gap, NJ/PA and Port Jervis, NY.

She is a certified Kripalu yoga teacher and a certified Phoenix Rising yoga therapist. She has a MA from Radcliffe-Harvard and is a widely published author on environmental topics.

Mina is also the author of Serenity to Go: Calming Techniques for Your Hectic Life, which is a delightful book published in 2001 by New Harbinger Publications, Inc. To give you an idea of how valuable this book is, her website offers quotes from several writers of health care books who say her book has "sophisticated good humor," is a "real gift for all of us on-the-go people," is written "with clarity, compassion, and humor," and is "a pragmatic, no nonsense contribution to our potential for health." June Peoples, producer of the nationally syndicated public radio program, "The Infinite Mind," noted that, "This delightful, humorous guide helped me find small, hidden spaces in my day where I could catch my breath."

It is this kind of practical, humorous writing that we're pleased to present, with permission, of course, in several articles and two special photo tours. They are:
