Just as there were many ways to create a relationship that constantly renews itself—so that it can offer the comfort and pleasure of a deep connection between two souls (as we note in the introduction to Keeping Intimacy and Romance Alive)—there are many ways to destroy a relationship and prevent that deep and satisfying connection.

However, this is not always the result of an "affair," for as the second article notes, there are many levels of betrayal.
