Slowing Down to Enjoy Each Day

It is not surprising that for a few months after September 11th there was a profound realization that life is precious and uncertain. People were willing to stop and enjoy the sun's rising each day and setting each night. Despite the uncertainty of where we were all headed, we knew that, in our rush toward success and accumulation of material possessions, if we waited until the time was absolutely right, many of us would never get to do what we really wanted to do.

By now, however, for many people the old patterns have re-emerged. Perhaps that is true for you as well. However, the fact remains that if you consciously and deliberately live today—and every day—with enthusiasm and joy, you will later be able to tackle your to-do lists more effectively. Further, you will have the foundation for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being that previously may have seemed out of your grasp.

Unfortunately, even though you probably already know that you should carve out time for renewal, you may not know how. The habit of going places and checking off your to-do list may be too well ingrained for you to change easily. However, if you're ready to learn, you will find that this section is devoted to giving you practical, creative, and inspirational ideas for many ways you can put your feet up, literally and figuratively.
