Creating Peace in Hearts
and Homes
By Arlene
F. Harder, MA, MFT
The
idea for this section began a few days before the beginning of the
second Iraqi war when I was contacted by a reporter. She asked what
words of wisdom I might have for readers who were feeling anxious
and asked me how people can find solace in times like these.
I e-mailed her some ideas and then
we talked for almost an hour as we shared thoughts about the climate
of the times. This made me realize that people might enjoy some
concrete suggestions for dealing with all the craziness that's going
around these days.
I've subtitled this section "Creating
peace in hearts and homes" because I firmly believe that we
must create a climate for peace within ourselves before we can effectively
build a peaceful world. A poem offering that idea begins the first
article on the right.
Since this is a new feature, we're
beginning with an original article and then repeating articles found
elsewhere on the site that are particularly relevant. Then we're
also pointing you toward indexes that lead to lots of articles that
can help you live with peace and joy in your heart even in the midst
of difficult times.
Please send your suggestions to
add to these ideas for getting living fully in these uncertain timesto
say nothing of simply getting through each day and coming out the
other end with some semblance of sanity.
